Night Thoughts on Prayer

I am going to sleep now but I just felt a tug to blog about something. Well probably it's about night.

It's 10.13pm here in the Philippines, it's Monday and in few hours, it's Tuesday. We had many visitors since Saturday, so this night all of us are really tired. We just need to rest.

I just realized that everybody needs a spiritual rest. Retreat? Recollection? Yes, but we can still rest at home. And what is important is that we rest in the Lord.

What does it mean to rest in the Lord? It's receiving His love. We just sleep on His arms. Then we'll feel so much security around us. And He'll carry us like a baby. Isn't it wonderful? Then He look at us so lovingly.

We're babies, actually. We can do nothing on our own. We need the Lord to walk, to eat, and to bathe. We need the Lord. We need to come to Him in prayer. We need to pour all our heart unto Him to be strengthened. We need to pray because in prayer we meet our Lord.

Some people say they pray a little because they don't have time. I think that reason is so selfish. Who gave you the life you're spending? Who gave you the moments where you can do your job? Don't you know that the Lord can take away your life in an instant? Can you just spend at least an hour in prayer? There are 24 hours in a day. Just an hour, can't you give that BACK to the Lord?

Praying is not a waste of time. It's the important part of the day. Without prayer, we'll become zombies. We're lifeless.

If we desire so to have time for prayer, we'll find lots of time. If we are very hesitant to spend time with the Lord, we'll find lots of excuses. Jesus said, "Apart from Me, you can do nothing." (John 15:5)

Good night. May the Lord grant us a restful night and a peaceful death.
